Togo's Manager Resigns
It had to happen didn't it - three days before the start of their World Cup campaign Togo's manager resigns over money - it's all very well sticking to your principles, very honourable but what about the players, the supporters, the bloke in England who has adopted you?
Otto Pfister, who has also taken charge of Rwanda, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Congo DR and Ghana, expressed regret at the decision but felt he had no alternative but to resign. "When I started to be manager of Togo, I was promised that bonuses for the players would be cleared. That is still not the case, so I decided to quit immediately. It's a professional decision. However, in not managing a team at the World Cup, my life's dream has been destroyed. But this is a situation I simply cannot work with."
Still, the Palace job is still up for grabs and Simon Jordan does like a man with principles.
"So it's the 168 from Waterloo to the Elephant & Castle, then I take the 468 to Park Road and it's a short walk to Mr Jordan's office."
